Fall Is In Full Swing!

Welcome to the SuperSlow Zone®. October is here, which means in just a few weeks, you’ll no doubt be up to your eyeballs in candy as the neighborhood kids make the annual trek to your door begging for Halloween treats. Maybe you’ll be manning the door, maybe you’ll be out there following your own children in costume, or like me having your children man the doorbell! And if you’re like most people, that candy can be pretty tempting…sitting there in that bowl by the door. And if Halloween falls on a slow night, there’ll be plenty of leftovers…

Of course, Halloween is only the beginning. Next comes Thanksgiving, then all, those Christmas parties and finally New Year’s Eve, when you try to squeeze into your sexiest party outfit and wind up second-guessing your decision to go out at all. Add colder weather that makes it harder to get outside and exercise, and it’s no wonder so many people around the world end up resolving to get in shape on New Year’s Eve, following months of letting their bodies go.

But clearly, you are not one of those people. You are here right now. Which means you aren’t going to let the season wreak havoc on your body. You’re going to let SuperSlow® transform your body into the strongest, sleekest fat-burning machine it has ever been. So this New Year’s Eve, you can concentrate on something far more productive. Like maybe getting a big raise. Or planning that next vacation. Or getting some well-needed rest….

You’ll definitely be looking sharper by New Years, because SuperSlow® works super fast – regardless of what kind of shape you’re in right now. Whether you’ve been working out religiously or have spent the last several years parked on the couch, a workout of just 20 minutes, one to two times a week, will deliver amazing results. This is because SuperSlow® workouts are specially designed for you, to work with your level of fitness and maximize results. And yes, we know 20 minutes a week sounds crazy, but we promise it’s not. Our unique systems gives all the power of a major workout just two 20-minute sessions. So you can get on with the gym and get on with your life. Which, at this time of year, is bound to be pretty busy! Even 20 minutes too much? Well, Fitness Magazine contains a quote from Robert Sallis, M.D., former president of the American Medical Association that says “Working out is the single most important thing you can do to live longer.” Exercise is medicine. A simple message – throw it into your health toolkit along with brushing and flossing your teeth or taking your vitamins.

Now, in keeping with my effort to keep on top of the “latest”, here are this month’s factoids to consider:

  • Back pain? Researchers found a deficiency in vitamin D (especially noticeable in midlife women) can lead to bone softening – and the first sign of bone trouble is often in your lower back. Have your doctor check your vitamin D levels and, if low, talk to them about the most effective way to get more into your body. (Source: More.com magazine)
  • Want more muscle? Potassium-packed fruits and vegetables counteract the effect of foods like meat and cereal grains (that create “acidic residues” in the body – promoting muscle waste. So, eat those bananas, dried apricots, cantaloupe, potatoes (sweet or white), winter squash, legumes, and avocado and drink that o.j.! (Source: EatSmart by Jean Carper)
  • Researchers from Purdue University found that consuming 300 calories (about 4 ounces) a day of nuts can be done without gaining weight – probably because the nuts help you feel full and less hungry for other foods. And, monounsaturated nuts help lower bad cholesterol, raising the good kind – plus the omega-3’s in walnuts also offer an anti-clotting feature, helping reduce the risk of stroke). Those eating nuts several times a week lower their chance of a heart attack by 30-50%…. and some, like almonds, are great sources of fiber too. Consider them the best over-40 snack…. Oh, and you’ll remember how I told you we had two clients “representing” SuperSlow in a charitable golf event early October? Well, I can’t brag that they WON the tourney, but I am proud they showed their SuperSlow colors (blue, of course) while playing in that event. Thanks to Brandon and Jason for “representing”!
